Nintendo Scraps Fast Travel for Ocarina of Time Remake
Eiji Aonuma decided to keep the classic exploration experience intact by removing fast travel from the upcoming remake.
★ 7.2manhwa.newsNintendo surprised fans by announcing that the upcoming remake of The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time for the Nintendo Switch 2 will not include a fast travel system. Producer Eiji Aonuma shared that the team experimented with adding the feature, but they ultimately decided against it during development.
Aonuma explained that the team wanted to improve how players cross Hyrule Field, which was a common point of frustration in the original Nintendo 64 release. However, after testing, they realized that adding fast travel took away from the feeling of traveling through the world. The team concluded that the journey is a core part of the adventure.
By keeping the original travel style, the developers hope to preserve the sense of scale that made the classic game special. Fans can look forward to a version that honors the spirit of the original design while modernizing other aspects of the experience.
