9.2manhwa.newsEven though Kentaro Miura is famous for creating the dark fantasy epic Berserk, he held onto a specific creative goal for his future career. An unearthed interview highlights that the legendary artist hoped to shift toward historical storytelling once he finished his work on Guts and the Band of the Hawk.
Miura was careful about his creative process, noting that he avoided historical settings for Berserk because he did not want real world facts to constrain his imagination. He preferred the freedom of a fantasy setting to build his own rules, creatures, and lore from scratch without needing to verify historical accuracy at every turn.
Despite this preference, he still had a deep interest in history. He expressed a desire to try his hand at a historical series as a separate project later in his life. While we will never get to see what he would have created, it is fascinating to imagine how his immense talent for detail and emotion would have shaped a story grounded in the past.
