World of Warcraft Midnight Patch 12.2 and Talebound Revealed

BlizzCon 2026 brought major news for World of Warcraft Midnight. The upcoming 12.2 update, titled Eclipse, sends players to the Mantle Vault. This underground area is where Xal'atath plans to possess the world soul, Azeroth. Players will face off against her in the new eight boss raid, The Worldcore, for a chance to earn a new legendary caster weapon called Midnight's Edge.

Fans also got a first look at Talebound, a new limited time game mode. This transforms the usual MMO experience into a roguelike action RPG where you explore horror themed stories. You can choose from three unique classes, the Slayer, the Inquisitor, and the Witch, each featuring fast paced moves like double jumps and dodges. Expect this to arrive on the PTR this October.

Season 3 is also bringing changes to the Mythic+ scene. The dungeon pool will focus on themes of imprisonment and underground exploration, featuring classics like The Underrot and Iron Docks. Additionally, Blizzard is updating reward structures to be spec based, which should be great news for players who enjoy off meta classes.

Finally, long awaited customization updates are arriving for Paladins. Night Elves, Darkspear Trolls, and Forsaken can now join the ranks as Paladins. This change follows a new questline designed to integrate these characters into the class lore, making it a perfect time for players to jump back in and start a fresh character.
