Super Troopers 3 Is Finally Here and It Actually Works

It feels like an absolute miracle that Super Troopers 3 even exists. After the lukewarm reception of the second film, nobody expected the Vermont Highway Patrol crew to return to the big screen. Directed by Jay Chandrasekhar, this new entry manages to capture the spirit of the original cult classic by focusing on what matters most, the chemistry between the iconic Broken Lizard comedy troupe.

The plot follows a hilarious disaster in the making when Thorny discovers his sister is engaged to the group's most chaotic member, Rod Farva. While Thorny tries to sabotage the wedding, the rest of the team finds themselves investigating a new drug smuggling operation at the Canadian border. It is a simple setup that gives the cast plenty of room to play with their well established character dynamics.

While the movie gets off to a slow start with some jokes that do not quite land, things pick up speed once the cast settles into their roles. Kevin Heffernan is as wild as ever as Farva, and seeing him play off of a genuinely frustrated Thorny is a treat for fans. Newcomers like Iqbal Theba provide some of the funniest moments, proving that this team still knows how to put together a solid comedy routine.

Super Troopers 3 is not going to change the world, and it certainly does not reach the heights of the first film, but it succeeds as a fun hangout movie. It feels like catching up with old friends who have lost a step but still know how to make you laugh. If you are a fan of the franchise, this is a perfectly good way to spend an afternoon at the theater when it releases on August 7, 2026.
