A Dog's Perfect Christmas Review: Sweet Pups Save The Holidays

The holiday season has arrived on Netflix with A Dog's Perfect Christmas. Based on the book by W. Bruce Cameron, the story follows a family trying to navigate grief and personal struggles during the busiest time of the year. The film relies heavily on the perspective of the family dog, Winstead, to help carry the narrative through some emotional highs and lows.

While the movie is very sweet, it is admittedly light on character depth. The human drama, including a health emergency and typical family tension, often pushes the dogs into the background. While the performers do their best with the script, some of the subplots feel a bit rushed and could have used more screen time to feel fully earned.

Despite these flaws, the film succeeds at being a lighthearted and warm watch. The adorable dog performers are the true stars here, and their antics provide plenty of joy. If you are looking for a simple movie to brighten your mood, this is a solid choice. Just make sure to stay through the credits for some extra behind the scenes fun with the dogs.
