Sam Krochmal Brings Heart and Humor to the Dark Thriller YAGA

YAGA is quickly becoming a must watch series this fall. Set in the lush but foreboding forests of British Columbia, the show follows a dark mystery that keeps viewers on edge. Actor Sam Krochmal makes an early impact as Billy, a young police officer who finds himself out of his depth while working alongside seasoned detectives.

Krochmal explains that he brought a lot of his own personality to the role of Billy. He worked closely with showrunner Kat Sandler to ensure the character stayed grounded. While Billy offers much needed moments of levity, the team made sure he never felt like a simple comedic sidekick. Instead, his humor comes from how seriously he takes his job despite his struggles to prove himself to his peers.

For audiences, Billy serves as a beacon of light in a show filled with gritty choices and moral dilemmas. Krochmal notes that viewers will likely latch onto Billy when the show feels particularly dark, as he represents a rare sense of goodness in a twisted story. The actor also shared that the supportive environment on set helped him overcome personal bouts of imposter syndrome during production.

Beyond his specific character, Krochmal is proud to be part of the growing wave of high quality Canadian television. He hopes that projects like YAGA will continue to shift public perception and prove that Canadian productions can compete with the best content worldwide. Fans can watch his performance as the mystery continues to unfold.
