Resident Evil Requiem Almost Looked Very Different
Capcom shifted gears on Resident Evil Requiem after early player feedback warned against an online focus.
manhwa.newsIt turns out the future of Resident Evil could have looked quite different. Producer Masachika Kawata recently shared that Resident Evil Requiem was originally planned as an online game. The development team, led by director Koshi Nakanishi, initially aimed to prioritize a multiplayer experience for the project.
Everything changed after the team looked at feedback from an internal survey. Players were clearly not interested in the online direction, which gave the developers a wake up call. This negative reaction forced the team to rethink their strategy and return to the roots of the franchise.
Capcom eventually pivoted back to the survival horror style that fans know and love. By listening to player input early on, the team was able to steer the project toward the scary, atmosphere heavy gameplay that defines the series today.
