Pokémon Studio OLM Debuts New AI Tool to Speed Up Anime Coloring

OLM, the famous animation studio behind the long running Pokémon series, recently introduced an innovative AI coloring tool. This new technology can analyze an anime production style by looking at just three hand painted frames. Once it learns the specific look, it can apply those colors to other scenes automatically.

The studio shared these plans at the Taiwan Creative Content Fest. OLM board director Yotsukura Tatsuo explained that this tool aims to handle the repetitive parts of the coloring process. By taking care of the busy work, the technology leaves the important creative choices in the hands of the human animators.
