Newlyweds Episode 3 Review: A Cozy Staycation Full of Surprises

Newlyweds Episode 3, titled We Will Never Have Paris, gives fans the best installment of the series yet. After two episodes of chaotic setup, the show finally slows down to focus on character development. Science teacher Jeanie and college professor James want to take a honeymoon, but their busy schedules as educators get in the way. To solve this, James plans a special minimoon at home with help from Arvid, recreating the vibes of France, Hungary, and Japan for a cozy weekend staycation.

Things get complicated when unannounced visitors arrive to interrupt the fun. Jeanie’s kids, Lolo and Poppy, show up alongside James's ex wife Claudia, leading to hilarious confrontations about personal boundaries. Jamie Lee Curtis continues to steal scenes as the funny and chaotic Claudia, while Téa Leoni and Tim Daly shine as the newlyweds trying to keep their peace. Even Arvid tones down his usual antics to become genuinely helpful for once.

This episode proves that keeping the focus strictly on the main six cast members pays off in a big way. Every actor gets a chance to shine, and the humor lands much better than before. Fans can catch new episodes of Newlyweds on Friday nights on NBC, with streaming available the next day on Peacock.
