Lanterns Episode 5 Recap: Lights Out Brings Chaos

Things get wild in Lanterns Episode 5, titled "Lights Out." The story flashes back to 2007 to show how Zoe Macon saved Kerry Kane and secured her loyalty. Back in 2016, Zoe returns to the family compound while Hal Jordan leaves John Stewart trapped in a burning car explosion. Hal later faces off against Sheriff Kane, who warns him that a town wide kill order is coming.

John wakes up badly burned in a hospital bed with Zoe. He finally confronts her about being the true manhunter, and she reveals that the Guardians created the manhunters before trying to wipe them out. Zoe offers to heal John if he pledges loyalty to her and helps cover up Hal's supposed death. John agrees to her terms, and her alien tech heals him while setting up a plan to take down Hal and hand the power ring over to John.

As the episode nears its climax, cell phones across the town blast out emergency kill orders targeting Hal. Zoe prepares to finish off Hal herself, but spotted satellites show alien hunters closing in on the compound. Fans are left on edge as major characters face mortal danger and loyalties are tested to the absolute limit.
