Uncharted 4 Almost Had Sam Drake as the Main Villain

We all know Uncharted 4 as a beloved conclusion to Nathan Drake's story, but it could have gone in a much darker direction. Matt Radford, a former VFX artist at Naughty Dog, recently shared that the game was originally led by Amy Hennig and featured a significantly different plot involving Sam Drake.

During a recent interview, Radford explained that Sam was originally intended to be the primary villain of the story. This revelation sheds new light on the massive changes that took place after Hennig departed the studio in 2014. The shift in direction eventually led to the final version that fans enjoyed on consoles.

It is always interesting to see how these major titles evolve during production. While the version we received was highly acclaimed, many fans are now wondering just how intense that original showdown between the brothers would have been. We may never see that early build, but hearing about these scrapped ideas is a treat for any longtime Uncharted fan.
