The Ribbon Hero Arrives on Netflix This August With NIJISANJI Stars

Great news for fans of classic manga. The Ribbon Hero, a new adaptation of Osamu Tezuka's Princess Knight, is officially coming to Netflix on August 8, 2026. This project is produced by TWIN ENGINE and marks the feature film directorial debut for Yuki Igarashi, known for his work on Star Wars: Visions and Jujutsu Kaisen.

The film follows the story of Princess Sapphire, who faces a dark calamity called Nergal that destroyed her homeland. After finding refuge in Goldland, she must take up her sword once again when the same threat reappears. It is a story about defying fate and fighting to protect those who cannot protect themselves.

The voice cast features Saya as Sapphire and Yoshimasa Hosoya as Rock. In a fun twist, the production is bringing in popular NIJISANJI VTubers to join the ensemble. Mito Tsukino will play Hecate, while Lunlun and Debidebi Debiru take on the roles of Chick and Tack, respectively. This marks the first time these VTubers have lent their voices to an anime film.

With character designs by Kei Mochizuki and additional collaboration from Mai Yoneyama, this project looks like a beautiful tribute to Tezuka's original work. Make sure to mark your calendars for August to catch this exciting take on a legendary series.
