PlayStation Legend Says Sony and Nintendo Should Wait on New Hardware

Shuhei Yoshida, the former president of PlayStation Worldwide Studios, recently shared his thoughts on the future of gaming consoles. He believes that both Sony and Nintendo should avoid rushing into their next console generations. According to Yoshida, the PlayStation 5 and the upcoming successor to the Switch are capable of remaining relevant for quite a while longer.

The main reason behind this perspective is simple, as many players are already satisfied with the power provided by modern machines. Yoshida noted that the current hardware meets the needs of most gamers, meaning there is no urgent pressure from the community to jump to new consoles.

Rising costs for hardware components are also a major factor in this conversation. Because it is becoming more expensive to build high end consoles, Yoshida suggests that Sony and Nintendo might feel more comfortable keeping their current systems on the market longer rather than pushing for immediate upgrades.
