The show does a great job of moving past the idea that plastic surgery is purely about vanity, instead showing the complex, often heartbreaking reasons people want to change their appearance.

While the series starts strong by examining the motivations of patients, the narrative becomes messy when it focuses on the clinic director, Rin Tohyama. The show tries to portray her as a caring professional, but this contradicts the clinic's aggressive advertising that promotes beauty as the only path to a happy life. The story often paints Fumi Numata as the villain regardless of the situation, while other characters avoid responsibility for their own choices.
