Overgeared Episode 1 is a Fun Start to the VRMMORPG Anime

The wait is over for fans of the popular series. The first episode of Overgeared, titled Legendary Class, has officially arrived on Crunchyroll. While the setup of a gamer entering a massive virtual world feels familiar, this adaptation manages to stand out right away.

At the center of the story is Grid, a protagonist who feels refreshingly flawed. The show uses his struggles to create genuine comedic moments that keep the pacing light. The animation from studio J.C.STAFF also helps, showing off a detailed game system that feels grounded in the logic of the source material.

Directed by Ayako Kono with series composition by Kenta Ihara, the creative team seems to have a clear vision for the adaptation. It balances the high stakes of a virtual reality world with the relatable frustration of a player just trying to make it big. It is a promising start that captures the spirit of the original story.
