Netflix Brings Cult Manga Quiztopia to Life This December

Fans of intense survival stories have a new reason to celebrate. The classic manga Quiztopia is officially hitting our screens as an eight episode live action series on Netflix. Premiering on December 17, 2026, the show is set in a dystopian Japan where the government is actually a televised quiz show. If you win, you get your wildest dreams granted, but the losers face a much darker fate.

The series stars Takayuki Yamada as the iconic show host KK. He finds himself caught in a dangerous plot when a group of rebels tries to tear down the system. With a massive production featuring 8,000 extras to capture the chaotic public obsession with the show, this adaptation promises to be a visual spectacle.

Directed by Teruyuki Yoshida, the show pulls from the 1993 manga by Reiichi Sugimoto and Shinkichi Kato. It fits right in with the popularity of other high stakes survival shows like Alice in Borderland and Squid Game. With a packed cast including Riko Ishida, Kana Kurashina, and Koji Seto, this is definitely one to watch as we head into the end of the year.
