Netflix Anime Viewership Hits Massive New Record

Anime is officially one of the biggest forces on Netflix right now. According to recent industry reports, viewers spent 4.64 billion hours watching Japanese animation during the first half of 2026. This is a massive jump from the 3.33 billion hours recorded during the same period in 2023.

This 39 percent increase proves that the audience for anime is growing much faster than the rest of the content on the site. While Netflix total viewership grew by 4.5 percent overall, anime is clearly outpacing everything else on the platform.
