Minecraft Switch 2 Upgrade Details Revealed

Great news for Minecraft fans playing on Nintendo Switch. Nintendo and Mojang Studios just shared that digital owners of the game will be able to upgrade to the upcoming native Switch 2 version at no extra cost. This is a solid move for anyone worried about rebuying their favorite blocky adventure on the next console.

The native version is set to hit the digital shelves on October 27, 2026. While the upgrade is free, you do need to keep an eye on the calendar. You have until January 31, 2027, to claim your copy through the Nintendo eShop.

Make sure to mark these dates down if you want to keep your worlds moving forward without spending extra cash. We are looking forward to seeing how the game runs on the newer hardware when it arrives later next year.
