Maomao Exposes The Magic Behind The White Snake Immortal

In the latest episode of The Apothecary Diaries, Maomao is invited by Lahan to investigate a mysterious performer known as the White Lady. This figure has everyone in the city captivated with what appears to be impossible magic, from mind reading to creating illusions. Lakan finds the display concerning, so he sends Lahan to get the one person capable of seeing through the smoke and mirrors.

The episode shines by letting Maomao play detective. She observes the performance and breaks down exactly how the tricks are staged using chemistry, clever props, and sensory manipulation. Aoi Yūki gives a fantastic performance here, capturing Maomao’s genuine excitement as she geeks out over the scientific principles behind the illusions.

While the puzzles are solved, the story leaves us with a darker mystery. The White Lady is using these distractions to cover up something much more dangerous involving mercury poisoning and a plague of locusts. As she disappears from the city, she leaves behind more questions than answers, hinting at a much larger plot brewing for Maomao to uncover.
