Manchuria Opium Squad Is Getting an Official Anime Adaptation

Great news for fans of intense historical dramas. The hit crime manga Manchuria Opium Squad is officially becoming an anime. This series has been a massive success, recently reaching over 3.5 million copies in circulation across Japan. It is exciting to see this gritty story finally getting the animation treatment.

To mark the announcement, the team shared the very first visual for the series. It gives us a look at the dark, suspenseful tone we can expect from the adaptation. While we wait for more details on the production, this teaser is a promising start for fans of the original work.

For those unfamiliar with the story, it takes place in Manchuria back in 1937. It follows Isamu Higata, a soldier in the Kwantung Army who faces a life changing struggle after losing his sight. We look forward to sharing more updates on the release window and staff as that information becomes available.
