Marvel's King in Black event continues with a pulse pounding third issue. Written by Al Ewing with art by Iban Coello and Paco Medina, this chapter keeps the momentum high as Dylan Brock remains in the clutches of the Symbiote Intelligence. The story moves fast and shifts focus to the heroes who are rising up against the growing alien threat.

While the main book remains exciting, the reading experience can feel a bit tangled. The crossover includes numerous tie in comics, and sometimes events in this issue jump ahead of those other books. It makes tracking the specific timeline a challenge for even the most dedicated fans. However, if you stick to the main narrative, the thread is clear enough to follow and enjoy.

The highlights here are the character moments. It is impressive to see how classic figures like Spider Man and Mary Jane have changed. Mary Jane in particular has moved far beyond her early days as a character in need of rescue, standing now as a capable fighter on the front lines. The interaction between powerhouse leads like Captain Marvel and Emma Frost also adds a fun layer to the chaotic conflict.

Visually, the book is a treat. The artists handle the complex, shifting nature of symbiotes and shape shifting Skrulls with ease. Vibrant colors contrast beautifully against the dark, inky symbiote forms, and the perspective work during the larger battles is fantastic. If you can ignore the slightly confusing crossover schedule, this remains a must read for fans of high stakes superhero action.
