Ha Chan, Shake Your Booty! starts with a surprising premise. Haru is a ballroom dancer whose life changes when her husband, Luis, dies suddenly during a competition. While the title and the dancing focus might suggest a typical sports drama, the movie is actually a touching character study about how we process grief through our own imagination.

Rinko Kikuchi gives a brilliant performance as Haru. After her loss, she struggles with memories of her husband while meeting a new dance instructor named Fedir.
