Former WarioWare Director Goro Abe Discusses Life After Nintendo

Goro Abe is a name many fans know for his brilliant work on the WarioWare series. After spending over twenty five years at Nintendo, he decided to step away from the corporate environment to pursue a new path as a university professor at Osaka Electro Communication University.

In a recent talk, Abe shared that hitting the age of fifty made him rethink his career goals. He wanted to spend the remainder of his professional life focusing on interactive experiences that he felt passionate about, rather than being held back by the strict profitability requirements that come with large scale commercial game development.

Now that he is in academia, Abe has the freedom to experiment with unique ideas that might not fit the traditional mold. While fans may miss his touch on major titles, it is exciting to see a veteran creator finding the space to explore his own artistic vision without the pressure of typical industry constraints.
