Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave Review: A Bold New Entry
We review Intelligent Systems' latest tactical game to see if its bold new mechanics and branching stories pay off.
manhwa.newsFire Emblem: Fortune's Weave stands out as a major new installment in the tactical RPG franchise. The story begins when the resurrected fighter Eshmel travels back in time with the Goddess of Fate to recruit four heroes and stop the demon lord Balor. Players get to follow distinct heroes like Cai, Theodora, Leda, and Dietrich, each bringing unique personal goals and motivations to the overarching plot.
One of the most interesting design choices is the campaign structure. After the prologue, players can pick any of the four hero campaigns and switch between them at will. While some character arcs feel more urgent than others, the rich lore and fun character interactions keep the journey entertaining. Fans also get plenty of freedom to explore the world of Dagda, complete side quests, and recruit new units.
Combat keeps the classic grid based mechanics that fans know and love while introducing fresh ideas. The biggest new feature is Blaze Arts, which lets heroes use powerful abilities in exchange for HP. This adds fun risk and reward choices to battles. Each protagonist also plays completely differently, giving players lots of variety when building their army.
Ultimately, Fortune's Weave proves to be one of the more ambitious titles in the franchise. Despite a few minor pacing issues in certain character paths, it succeeds as a memorable tactical experience. Fans of the series will find plenty to love in its deep systems and grand narrative.
