Dune: Awakening Shifts Focus After Big Player PvE Discovery

The team at Funcom is currently reassessing their game balance after discovering that a massive 80 percent of their players spend most of their time in PvE modes. This finding has forced the developers to rethink how they approach future content updates for the survival MMO.

Chief Creative Officer Joel Bylos shared that these insights are already shaping the development process. With such a clear preference from the community, the team is now placing a much stronger focus on the PvE side of things. This includes the development of the highly anticipated single player mode, which is becoming a top priority for the studio.

While the focus is shifting, PvP is not disappearing entirely. The developers are still looking at ways to integrate faction versus faction combat, but it will no longer be the only pillar of the experience.
