He was originally a student of [Masamichi Yaga](https://anilist.co/character/189237/Yaga-Masamichi)'s alongside [Satoru Gojo](https://anilist.co/character/127691/Gojou-Satoru) and [Shoko Ieiri](https://anilist.co/character/158154/Ieiri-Shouko) at Tokyo Jujutsu High. His experiences as a jujutsu sorcerer bred a deep hatred for non-sorcerers, leading to an incident where Suguru massacred over a hundred civilians in a single night, later being expelled from Jujutsu High and called for immediate execution as a result.
