Appofeniacs Review: A Bloody Deepfake Horror Movie

Horror fans looking for a fresh scare got a treat when Appofeniacs hit theaters on October 2, 2026. Written and directed by Chris Marrs Piliero, the movie leans into modern fears about deepfakes, online manipulation, and internet paranoia. The story feels close to home because it uses technology that exists right now, making the viewing experience genuinely unsettling.

The eighty nine minute R rated film follows a group of strangers whose lives collide because of a reckless deepfake scheme. Aaron Holliday stars as Duke, a man who uncovers the dangerous plot. The cast delivers strong performances that sell the growing fear and mistrust among the characters as their digital lives spiral out of control.

If you enjoy horror movies that tackle modern technology and psychological dread, this one is worth checking out on the big screen. It is a sharp reminder to question what you see online, wrapped up in a bloody and entertaining package.
