Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Gets The Definitive Switch 2 Upgrade
The hit RPG finally runs as smoothly as intended on the Nintendo Switch 2, making it the best way to enjoy Rex and Pyra's journey.
manhwa.newsNintendo and Monolith Soft are continuing their trend of updating classic titles for the Switch 2, and Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is the latest to receive the treatment. This version makes a massive difference compared to the original 2017 release. While the core story of Rex and his quest to find Elysium remains as charming and exciting as ever, the technical improvements finally allow the gameplay to shine without being held back by performance issues.
The most noticeable change is the jump in visual quality and stability. Playing in handheld mode is a revelation, as the blurry textures and frame rate struggles of the original are gone. The game now hits a solid 60fps in both handheld and docked modes, though players might still spot the occasional dip in busy areas or during intense cutscenes. The visuals are much sharper, with detailed environments that look great on a handheld screen.
While this edition adds some nice bonuses like new Blades and cosmetics, it is not entirely perfect. Some textures can take a moment to load when entering new areas, and it misses the high speed traversal tools found in other recent ports. Even so, these minor complaints do not stop this from being the best way to play the game. Whether you are a newcomer or a veteran looking to return to Alrest, this version is the definitive experience.
