Why Shigeru Miyamoto Skipped a Traditional Bowser Fight in Mario
Gaming legend Shigeru Miyamoto explains the funny reason behind the final Bowser encounter in the original Super Mario Bros.
manhwa.newsIf you ever wondered why the final boss fight in the classic 1985 game Super Mario Bros feels a bit different, the creator himself has the answer. Shigeru Miyamoto recently shared that he simply could not figure out how to program a traditional boss battle against Bowser. Instead of a direct sword fight or complex battle, the design team went with a clever trick.
Players do not actually fight Bowser face to face at the end of the castle stages. Instead, Mario has to jump over the giant turtle villain and hit an axe at the edge of the bridge. This drops Bowser into the lava below and saves Princess Peach.
Fans love hearing behind the scenes stories like this from the golden age of gaming. It shows how simple technical limits back then actually led to creative design choices that we still remember and enjoy today.
