Pirate Sites Are Playing Cat and Mouse to Stay Online
New data reveals that manga pirate sites rotate their domains at an alarming speed to avoid being shut down.
manhwa.newsIt is getting harder to track down illegal manga sites. A recent report from the Japan Publishers Manga Anti Piracy Conference shows that these platforms are constantly shifting their domain names. In fact, over 82 percent of these sites change their web addresses within just 15 days of their last move. This rapid rotation helps them stay active even when publishers try to block them.
Tatsuo Ninoseki, a lawyer working with the group, recently spoke about this during an event for the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers. The main goal of the publishers is to stop these commercial networks from operating so easily. By constantly jumping between domains, these sites make it very difficult for legal teams to keep up.
To fight back, the organization is pushing for stricter rules when people register new domains. They want better identity verification to catch the people running these piracy operations. Hopefully, these new measures will make it much harder for these sites to hide their tracks and keep stealing content from our favorite creators.
