Nimrods Review: A Nostalgic Punk Road Trip Worth Taking

Nimrods captures the spirit of 90s punk music while staying grounded in the life of a modern teenager. The story follows Tommy, a young musician who hates technology and feels trapped in his small town. After his brother tricks him into believing his band has a shot at opening for Green Day in Los Angeles, Tommy and his friends set out on a wild road trip to make their dreams a reality.

The film functions as a series of comedic vignettes as the group encounters various characters at junkyards, motels, and bars along the way. While some parts of the movie, like the subplot involving a punk girl named Olivia, feel a bit thin, the core performances keep things moving. Kylr Coffman stands out as the group's drummer, providing constant laughs and heart throughout the journey.

While the final act feels a bit predictable and conventional, the overall experience is charming. It manages to be a lighthearted tribute to Green Day without taking itself too seriously.
