Meet Bastion, The Fierce New Tank Coming To FFXIV Evercold

Big news for Warriors of Light at the Berlin Fan Fest. Director Naoki Yoshida finally introduced the next expansion, Evercold, and unveiled a brand new job called Bastion. This job brings a fresh Viking flair to the game as a dual wielding Tank that uses shape shifting great shields known as Skyltborg.

What makes Bastion unique is its versatility on the battlefield. Players can morph these heavy shields into claws for intense melee combat or barrels for ranged attacks. It is designed to act as a frontline defender that provides shields and support for the party while offering more range than a traditional Paladin. Fans can also look forward to new areas in the Northern Empty when the expansion hits in January 2027.

Beyond the new job, the event touched on exciting updates like upcoming crossovers with Evangelion and Final Fantasy VII.
