King in Black: Defenders of Light and Dark Issue 3 Review

The latest issue of King in Black: Defenders of Light and Dark brings the crossover tie in to a high stakes finish. With the teams finally united, Cable and Iron Man put their plan into motion to turn the tide against Knull and Hela. The central strategy here is pure chaos, as the heroes decide that the only way to stop these threats is to force the two villains to fight each other.

The pacing in this finale is incredibly fast. Readers get to see the long awaited confrontation between Knull and Hela, which delivers plenty of visual excitement. Zé Carlos handles the art with great skill, capturing the massive scale of these godly entities as they clash. The way the colors shift and contrast as the characters hop between different locations keeps the visuals fresh throughout the intense battle.

While the spectacle is impressive, the story does have some drawbacks. Hela feels underutilized throughout this event, which is a letdown given the title. Additionally, the final fight ends a bit more abruptly than many fans might have expected. Despite these pacing gripes, the dialogue remains sharp, and the issue successfully sets up the final conflict for the wider event.
