Harley Quinn Issue 67 Delivers Brutal Romance and Danger

DC Comics brings us Harley Quinn Issue 67, written by Elliott Kalan with art by Carlos Olivares and letters by Lucas Gattoni. This issue kicks off Part One of Week 10 in the Batman Bad Seeds event. Harley is completely desperate to reach Poison Ivy, but the odds are stacked heavily against her. Fans usually expect pure comedy from the clown princess, but this issue introduces a surprising and powerful sense of real danger and menace.

While dealing with spores in her system, Harley experiences intense hallucinations of Poison Ivy while a giant villain tries to murder her. The brutal fight causes massive blood loss and chips away at her coherence. The creative team smartly adapts A Christmas Carol into the frantic action scenes. The loving moments clash wonderfully with the horror of the battle, leaving everyone exhausted by the final page.

Carlos Olivares delivers stunning artwork with a great range, perfectly capturing the vibrant hallucinations and the stark, bloody reality of the fight. The brutal action contrasts sharply with the tender, intimate moments Harley shares with different versions of Poison Ivy. The bright, dreamlike colors fade away into gritty violence, making this issue a remarkable mix of romance and brutality that fans should not miss.
