Final Fantasy IV Almost Launched on the NES

Square Enix just shared some fascinating history to celebrate the thirty fifth anniversary of Final Fantasy IV. In a special development look, the team revealed that the game was actually planned for the NES at the start.

This shift to the Super Nintendo changed everything for the project. Moving to more powerful hardware allowed the developers to create the iconic world and deeper gameplay that fans know and love today.
