The team also addressed the AI, which has been doing too much of the heavy lifting. In the new version, auto tackling and auto interceptions are being significantly reduced. This means players have to take more manual control over their defenders to regain possession.

The developers admit that watching the World Cup highlighted just how many exciting plays, like headers and volleys, were missing from their game. By increasing player agency and making the game more grounded, they hope to make different styles of play viable again. Whether you prefer tiki taka passing or aggressive wing play, the goal is to make every match feel unique when the game launches on September 25.
