Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 Beta Impressions

After the disappointing reception of the previous entry, Infinity Ward is looking to win back the community with Modern Warfare 4. The recent beta gave us a look at new movement mechanics, a hybrid streak system, and a gritty campaign mission set on the Korean Peninsula. While the core gameplay feels polished and familiar, it leaves us wondering if this is a true step forward or just a return to the 2019 reboot formula.

Multiplayer modes are a mixed bag of the classics and some bold newcomers. While Hardpoint and Search and Destroy are present, modes like Inflation and Hijack encourage players to stay on the move rather than camping in corners. The Gunfight mode also feels refreshed with randomized loadouts and map layouts that keep matches unpredictable. Large scale fans are still waiting on the return of Ground War, which promises massive 24v24 combat once it finally goes live.

On the technical side, the game looks great on current gen hardware, even if it feels more like an iterative upgrade than a graphical leap. New features like Gunny, an AI assistant that builds loadouts for you, should help players mid grind, though it likely won't replace the custom builds crafted by experts. Whether this package can justify its full price remains to be seen, but the developer is certainly working hard to clear the low bar set by last year.
