Batman Reaches His Breaking Point in Absolute Batman Issue 23
Bruce Wayne pushes everyone away as his paranoia reaches a dangerous new high in the latest intense chapter.
manhwa.newsAbsolute Batman Issue 23 is here and it hits hard. The story finds Bruce Wayne spiraling as he deals with the constant influence of Jack Grimm and Scarecrow. These enemies have spent so much time manipulating him that he has lost his ability to trust anyone. Even an intervention featuring his closest friends and former allies fails to get through to him. Instead of finding support, Bruce responds with pure rage and pushes everyone out of his life.
The issue is split into two distinct parts. The first half focuses on the tense confrontation during the intervention. It is fascinating to see the unique personalities of the Robins shine through, with each of them feeling like a distinct person rather than just a sidekick. The art from Nick Dragotta makes these moments pop, especially with the body horror elements that give this version of the characters such a distinct look. The colors by Frank Martin also set the mood perfectly by using deep blacks to keep the focus on the emotional weight of the scene.
Things get even more chaotic in the second half. Bruce is now completely alone and forced to face a massive fight that introduces a surprising new threat to the Absolute Universe. The Robin mechs make a return and look better than ever, but the real star is the sheer intensity of Batman as he loses his grip on his humanity. It is a dark and powerful read that shows just how ruthless and unpredictable this version of the Caped Crusader has become.
