A Love Other Than Yours Review: A Relatable Take on Long Term Love
We check out the first two episodes of this new K drama to see if the ten year relationship between Ho and Mi Do can survive a breakup.
manhwa.newsA Love Other Than Yours introduces us to Namgung Ho and Lee Mi Do, a couple who have been together for ten years after knowing each other since grade school. Now in their mid thirties, they find themselves stuck in a rut. While Ho is settled in his job, Mi Do struggles with her career as a filmmaker, leading to a tension filled family dinner where they are pushed to either get married or call it quits. This pressure, combined with Mi Do's professional setbacks, leads to a sudden breakup right when Ho was preparing to propose.
The show balances comedy and melodrama to explore the weight of their history. The lead actors, Seo Kang joon and Ahn Eun jin, have incredible chemistry that makes their decade long connection feel genuine. Their performances ground the story, making the painful moments feel real and the sweet flashbacks even more impactful.
While the drama succeeds in its emotional beats, the comedic tone is a bit uneven. Sometimes the quirky sound effects and music choices feel out of place for a serious story about adult relationships. However, the show really shines when it strips back the background noise and focuses on the quiet, deep understanding between these two characters.
With two episodes down, the stage is set for a long journey of heartbreak and discovery. It will be interesting to watch how the story progresses over the coming weeks. You can catch new episodes of A Love Other Than Yours every Saturday and Sunday on Prime Video.
